Angelina Jolie’s touching tribute to her late mother.

Posted on 27. Jan, 2010 by in IZ

It’s always amazing to us how far IZ’s reach can go. From Adam Sandler, Dean Koontz, Better Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and now Angelina Jolie who used Over the Rainbow in this very touching tribute to her late mother. This morning we received an inquiry from the New York Magazine asking our thoughts on her use of this song and we wanted to share our response to our Rainbow Ohana.

“We were aware of Angelina Jolie’s use of the song in this touching tribute. We did not ask for a take down. No we will not be seeking compensation from the family. Many people find comfort and joy in this song and use it for weddings, funerals, baby luaus etc. The viral spreading of this song has been wonderful from our point of view. We enjoy the commercial uses of the song around the world as well.”

It was amazing hearing Over the Rainbow played in Times Square (on TV of course) right after midnight on NY Eve this year.

This was done so tastefully on a personal note. Something any of us could relate to. I am especially proud of the response Mountain Apple Co., gave to the media. I am relieved that The Aloha Spirit that the Hawaiian’s teach us is continued through it’s association of friends abroad. The Aloha Spirit has such a deep and geniune meaning that draws people to those islands. And that is because of thier native custom to Share all that is good. They knew way back that what they have in those paradisiac lands is a gift and it’s for all those who want to share in the beauty. No more than can you put a price tag on the sunsets can you on the love that spreads like wild fire because it is too good to withhold from others that will find happines in it. It is the Hawaiian way. I share my own God given gift without price, I understand. Mahalo Nui Loa Mountain Apple Co. for sharing and upholding the Hawaiian’s generous Aloha Spirit on behalf of all the Hawaiian’s and “IZ”. It’s probably the very reason why it continues to grow without reproach! May you continue to be blessed!

I so much enjoyed watching this video and the tribute to Mrs. Bertrand. Everything Hawaiian now is more vivid and surreal to me. I recently had the pleasure of meeting my Crew Leader and admiring his love for this land and the culture of the people. What a Wonderful World It IZ !!
